Garbage. The woman behind the counter was beyond rude. An amoeba would have more personality. She didn’t say a word to me, not even hello or a thank you. Very strange that she works in such a role. A truly bizarre shop, sadly best avoided. There are some fabulous book shops in East/North London, please don’t waste your time here.

This is such a great bookshop! My partner and I were interested in buying a book about Japan or by a Japanese author. We asked the staff for help and turns out Aby was just the right person to ask. She generously and patiently talked us through some options which were towards the back of the shop. We came away with 2 books! A good reminder of why we need proper, local bookshops like this one.

Beautiful Bookshop! The windows are always nicely arranged with beautiful ideas books. Easy Ordering and The People are competent and friendly. The bookshop has been lately renewed and besides being beautiful it's a good experience just to walk in. Incredible selections of titles. Best place to be in Stoke Newington.

Horrible service. Stood at cash point waiting to be served then walked over to shop assistant to pay and was silently pointed back to cash point. Silently took my money without telling me the price or asking if I wanted a bag or receipt. First and only time I would ever buy from this place. Wouldn’t provide return despite inadequate service.

Lovely bookshop, but I always find the friendly service is reserved for a certain demographic. This is my feeling of being a patron over the last 30 odd years. Recently purchased a book for my niece, no hello, no eye contact, back turned intensely studying a shelf, no Happy New Year .. Not even would you like a paper bag etc. The service was very different for other patrons even as they entered the bookshop. Dismay.
